Quarter Two

Newsletter

Greetings, TBC members! This issue of our quarter newsletter wraps up our second quarter, in which we would like to thank all of our wonderful members and parents for their continuing support and participation.

New Group College Counseling Sessions

We’d like to take a moment to thank you all for supporting our group and participating with us in our summer and fall parades. TBC could not be what we are without our members! As a small token of our appreciation, Tri-City Band Corps is happy to be offering free college counseling sessions exclusively for our members.

Private college counseling can often cost thousands of dollars over the course of four years for one student, but are often very popular as they greatly help with putting parents at ease and putting students in the right direction to be admitted to the college of their choice. Our college counseling sessions are group sessions, but we will still go over the major topics that private college counselors offer advice on. Please note that to allow space for as many TBC members as possible to participate, each member will be limited to signing up for one session. All of our sessions will be led by Harrison Cheng, a former UC Berkeley Admissions Officer and a private college counselor for over a decade.

To be eligible for these sessions, you must have participated in a parade within the past 12 months and be currently enrolled in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade.

If you were unable to sign up for any of the parades this past year, TBC is still planning on holding college counseling sessions for those who participate in our 2018 summer and fall parades. We hope to see you there!

Fall Parades

This year, TBC had a great time performing in two of its annual fall parades. The Niles Festival of Lights has been an annual tradition for the past 15 years in Fremont. This year, TBC performed extremely well at the 2017 Niles parade on 11/24, winning The People’s Choice Award.  In addition, at the parade in Hollister this year (11/25), TBC had a great time performing at the Hollister On Lights Parade. With an audience of about 10,000 people annually, it was an honor for the band to play for such a large crowd. We hope you join us next year  in our fall parades in addition to our summer parades we will have during the summer!

TBC Italy Trip

This year, TBC was invited to perform at the annual Scottish Games over Labor Day weekend! During the performance, TBC was honored  with the official invitation to attend the Rome New Year’s Day Parade 2018 from Mr. Bob Bone, President of Youth Music of the World. TBC will participate in its second international performance tour in the Rome New Year’s Day Parade from December 27th, 2017 to January 5th, 2018. In addition to the New Year’s Parade, TBC will also be performing at landmarks in Rome and holding a holiday concert performance!
