2023-2024 Quarter 2 Newsletter

Greetings, TBC Members! This issue of our newsletter wraps up this past quarter and introduces our upcoming events. We would like to thank all of our wonderful members and parents for their participation and tremendous support towards our organization.

Winter Guard

Imperialis and Immortalis are TBC’s current Winter Guard programs led by Colin Apperson, Victor Ramos, and Ben Wilkinson. This program offers opportunities for students in elementary schools up to college grade levels. Imperialis is our advanced guard group in division INA, generally having older age students. Immortalis is our beginning guard group in division IRA, which generally has younger students. Winter Guard is an opportunity to bond with other students, learn and experience leadership, and most importantly, have fun!

Winter Drum Major

Drum majors are the student leaders and conductors of the marching band. During the winter, students are able to compete in a series of solo competitions for baton or mace spinning and conducting. This year, we have a team of students from several different schools who have been working hard to prepare for their first competition next month. Our program, Drum Major International (DMI), is a winter Drum Major competition circuit formed in 2020 during the pandemic. Our group was founded by a team of drum majors from Northern California, Southern California, Texas, Mississippi, Scotland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and DCI World Class drum majors. We set out to build a leading drum major contest and community featuring competitors from each of their unique cultural and historical backgrounds.

Percussion Programs

Tri-City Percussion and Special Needs Percussion are back from hiatus, and are currently midway through their respective seasons. Among other shows in the NCPA circuit’s Independent Open Class, Tri-City Percussion has also secured a spot in WGI’s West Power Percussion Regional in Southern California. The entire ensemble will be making its way downstate for a 3-day overnight trip. Special Needs Percussion is back this time not at MSJHS, Stratford, but at a new rehearsal facility - FCSN’s (Friends of Children with Special Needs) brand new facility in Fremont. For their first performance, they’re set to perform at Foothill HS on 3/23.

Hastati Regiment

Coming into 2024, TBC's elementary band students have been working very hard on their music pieces for our upcoming concert. It is amazing to see students' progress with the guidance and support of our elementary band program. Summer registration for our elementary band program is OPEN NOW! Please sign up here. We hope to see you all during the summer!

Cadet Regiment

The Cadet Regiment is an award winning middle school marching band consisting of over 100 students. We have started registration for all incoming 6-9th graders for our 2023-2024 summer season. Join us this season! Find registration details and more info on the website.

Officer Applications

TBC has over 750 members and 80 officers spanning 9 active programs and 125 different Bay Area schools and growing. And we couldn't do it without all of our hard-working and wonderful student officers.

The key leaders of our organization are our Executive and Department Head Board, and they ensure TBC events and programs run smoothly. The Executive and Department Head application is now open and will be due on February 25, 2024 11:59 pm.

Our officers are students who are looking to develop their leadership and management skills as well as practice those skills in a real-life environment. General Officer Application is going out in March. We hope you can be part of an amazing officer team!

Sincerely,

Deshna Kankaria

Chief Operations Officer 2023-2024
