ROJA CHENNURU

My son Suhas has played trumpet in band for five years now. I came to know about TBC from the fliers sent through Peachjar from the Fremont Unified School District. We signed him up for the cadet marching band in the summer after 8th grade, as my son planned on doing marching band in high school. As I wasn’t aware of TBC before that, I was a little skeptical about the program. When we went to the first practice, we were received by a student officer who detailed us about the program. The program is very structured and the students were trained in both marching and playing their instruments. Practices were held regularly. They performed at the Redwood City and Salinas parades. All the events were well organized. They even took care of transportation for some events such as buses and carpooling. After having such a good experience during summer my son wanted to do the TBC Royal marching band, which performs at many events throughout the year. Apart from playing for the band there are student officer positions also available which help them earn volunteer hours and also help students handle organizing events, logistics, etc. I would highly recommend students in band to join TBC as it gives them an opportunity to learn new music and perform in many events. Starting this year they have a year round elementary band program. Students in grades 4-6 are taught their chosen music instruments by amazing volunteer TAs. Above all, it’s an amazing non-profit organization completely funded by donations.
